Our Aim for Sports:
Our aim at Whakarongo School is to meet the needs of all students, no matter their ability in sport.
We want to encourage participation and learning of skills, so students can explore, perform and excel in their chosen sport(s). Students at Whakarongo School have the opportunity to participate and compete in a wide range of sports and activities.
With the support of teachers and parents, we are pleased to offer school sports that participate in weekend and after school competitions.
The sports we offer are:
Wanting your child to participate?
A note to parents...
Once children are a part of a team, please make sure your children listen for information on team meetings, game times and cancellations, etc. Also please inform your coach or manager immediately if any of your contact information changes, or if you know your children will be absent from a game or practice. These responsibilities are also a big part of your child's learning about team play alongside commitment and fair play as well as the skills of the game.
We also recommend strongly that you have a look at the entire school year when planning your child's participation in sport. We offer an amazing scope of opportunities for our children, which are exciting and appealing for our children. Some considerations for you are:
Player fees cannot be refunded after team registration is complete. Fees are determined based on the number of players signed up. Therefore, please ensure you are fully aware of season game dates to avoid any possible conflicts before committing to a sport.
We will do our best to ensure every child has the opportunity to play.
Before signing up for a team, ensure your child is committed to fully participating in the sport so as to not let team mates down by withdrawing at some point in the season. This can occur, for example, when sports occasionally overlap.
If you are willing to coach or manage a sports team, please fill in this information on your child's registration form. Our school sports teams rely on the dedication of our school community and parents to coach and manage our sports teams.
If you have any questions regarding any of the above, please let us know.
